Vintage and antique coin operated amusements and mechanical novelties have proven to be a much loved and popular form of nostalgic entertainment in recent years. No doubt in part due to the "retro" appeal of the experience which is popular nowadays. Also, as there appears to be very few leisure pastimes which truly appeal to every age group - strangely, this one does exactly that! It can also be an educational experience, covering such wide ranging topics as social history, engineering and technology, art and design etc... not forgetting, using the real old pennies (pre-decimal) which also forms an integral and novel part of the attraction - adding some true authenticity to the experience. Using the old coinage will, I suspect, become more of a novelty in itself in the years to come, especially as we are now seemingly moving towards a cash-free world!
